Gifting of Ambulance on 68th Independence Day of India

1. The 68th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the CGI, Birgunj on 15th August 2014 and was attended by over 800 persons which included inter alia Indian nationals, PIOs, SPs of Parsa and Bara Districts, distinguished Nepalese citizens, academicians and office bearers of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, office bearers of Nepal India Friendship Associations from all the 8 districts and students from various schools around Birgunj.

 

2. Shri Shankar Prasad Koirala, Chief Administrator, Central Development Region was the Chief Guest at the 68th Independence Day Celebration. After hoisting the national flag, the Consul General read out the President’s address.  This was followed by handing over of 2 ambulances gifted by the Government of India to certain Nepalese institutions located in our area.  Later, students of schools and colleges of Parsa and Bara districts presented colourful and scintillating cultural programs comprising skits & dances based on patriotic songs and reflecting the grandeur & cultural diversity of India.

 

3. The event, including gifting of ambulances by GoI was given wide advance publicity through the local media, including local radio stations and TV, in the past 2-3 days.  Thirteen local dailies carried out Consul General’s Independence Day message and Press Release on development assistance to Nepal. Copies of news reports are being enclosed in bag copy of this message.  Several Nepal India Friendship Associations in Consulate’s area of jurisdiction have scheduled programs in their respective districts later today.  Indreni FM of Birgunj and npdailynews.com broadcasted live Independence Day programme.
