During his visit to District Dhanusha on 3rd January 2011, H.E. Shri Rakesh Sood, Ambassador of India, laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of infrastructure of six school buildings of Shree Rastriya Primary School to be built with Government of India’s assistance of NRs. 4.45 crores under Nepal -India Economic Cooperation Programme.
The schools are located at i) Nagarain-Jatahi; ii) Nagarain-Raghopur; iii) Ghorghas-Ganguli Pachhawari; iv ) Ghorghas-Ganguli Daxinwari; v) Fulgama-Khadga; and vi) Lagama–Pachhawari VDCs in Dhanusha District. These schools are well known among the important centres of education in the area and service the educational needs of over 2100 students, almost half of are girls. These schools are presently functioning in old buildings that require structural upgradation. The improvements in the infrastructure with Govt. of India's grant assistance will help in the creation of a significantly conducive environment for the students' community in the pursuit of their study programmes in keeping with their educational needs and towards raising the student enrolment in this area.
In his address, the Ambassador of India reaffirmed the importance of India-Nepal Cooperation Programme as a cornerstone of the overall relationship between the two countries, and expressed the hope that various developments projects being implemented under the programme all over Nepal would help the people of Nepal in their stride towards peace and prosperity.
India recognizes the importance of accelerating economic rehabilitation and development in Nepal and remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over NRs 5700 crores with more than 385 large and small projects completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development. These development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal. These projects reflect the commitment of the Government and the people of India to work together with the people of Nepal in their stride towards peace and development.
