Janakpurdham is one of the most important cities of religious and historical importance in Nepal.  It is widely known that the marriage ceremony between Lord Ram of Ayodhya and Princes Sita of Mithila was performed at the holy Rangbhumi ground of Janakpurdham.   During Bibah-Panchami, Ram-Nawami and other festivals, visiting pilgrims make use this facility and take bathe in the sacred Gangasagar and Dhanushsagar. The new infrastructure being created with the assistance of Government of India will significantly upgrade the facilities of Rangbhumi Maidan, Gangasagar and Dhanushsagar at Janakpurdham. The pilgrims in general and from the weaker sections of the society in particular, will benefit immensely with the availability of proper sanitation and improved infrastructure at the holy place.
Established in 1953, Shree Mahendra Rastriya Higher Secondary School, Ramgopalpur, Mahottari is among the oldest schools in Mahottari District.   The school is unable to cope with the increasing number of students due to shortage of classrooms.  The improvements in the infrastructure of the school with Govt. of India’s grant assistance will help in the creation of better facilities   for the student community in the pursuit of their study programmes in keeping with their educational needs and towards raising enrolment in this school.
In his address, the Ambassador of India reaffirmed the importance of India-Nepal Cooperation Programme as a cornerstone of the overall relationship between the two countries, and expressed the hope that various developments projects being implemented under the Programme all over Nepal would help the people of Nepal in their stride towards peace and prosperity.
