The bridge over Bagmati River between Gaur (Nepal) and Bairgania (India) at the India-Nepal Border in District Rautahat, constructed with GOI assistance of NRs. 2.71 crores under the Small Development Projects Programme, was inaugurated by Rt. Hon'ble Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal, Prime Minister of Nepal on 21st May 2010.
The constructed bridge is yet another example of the ongoing economic cooperation in the social development domain between India and Nepal. The bridge is expected to benefit a population of more than 3 lakhs in 41 VDCs of District Rautahat and will facilitate the easy movement of people and goods. It will not only facilitate the movement within Nepal but also cross border movement between the two countries.
India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over NRs 5600 crores with more than 370 large and small projects completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development. These projects reflect the commitment of the Government and the people of India to work together with the people of Nepal in their stride towards peace and development. These development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal and these infrastructures stand as a symbol of the deep friendship that characterizes the relationship between India and Nepal. Government of India looks forward to many more such initiatives in association with the Government and people of Nepal.
