India Nepal Border Trade Symposium and Border Journalists Meet at Janakpur

On April 9th, 2016 Consul General of India in association with Nepal India Women Friendship Society organized "India Nepal Border Trade Symposium and Border Journalists Meet" for the traders  and Journalists of bordering districts including  Sitamarhi and  Madhubani  of Bihar, India and Dhanusha, Mahottari and Sarlahi of Nepal to discuss  on the topics titled  trade and commerce relations between the business communities, traders & their problems  and  Sharing of information between the Journalists,  Role of media for border harmony and media ethics etc. at Hotel Sitasharan, Janakpur,  District Dhanusha, Nepal.

 

The programme was inaugurated by Ambassador of India to Nepal H.E Shri Ranjit Rae by lightning the lamp.  The prominent personalities, who participated in the symposium/meet included Mrs. Anju Ranjan, Consul General,  Mrs. Chanda Chaudhary, President, Nepal India Women Friendship Society, S/Shri Dilip Chapagai, CDO, Dhanusha District, Nepal, H.B.K Singh, Commandant, SSB 20th Bn. Sitamarhi, India, R.D.Joshi, SP, Dhanusha District, Heera Sah, President, Janakpur Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Anil Barolia, General Secretary, Jainagar Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Brij Kumar Yadav, Lalit Jha and Rajesh Karn, President, Vice President and Gen. Secy of India Nepal cross border Journalists association respectively  besides office bearers of Chamber of commerce & print and electronic media of bordering districts.

 

The participants discussed at length on the aforementioned   issues with an objective to enhance more interaction  and co-ordination between the Traders and Media persons of the bordering districts of both countries and raised their common problems related to Hulaki Highway, Chure range Conservation, Sitamarhi-Janakpur Rail link, Non availability of adequate Indian currency, Promotion of Ayurveda Herbs, Increasing the numbers of seats & scholarship  in  various courses in India, establishment of cross border media centre in Janakpur,  admission for Madheshi Journalists in IIMC ( Indian Institute of Mass Communication)   before the H.E Shri Ranjit Rae, who assured to address their genuine grievances/ problems appropriately.  

 

The event evoked a very enthusiastic response among the traders and media persons. It was opined by the participants in majority to hold similar programmes in different border points regularly along Indo Nepal Border.
